I've been using Twonky Server with WHS V1 for a few months now and must admit it works really well. My Samsung TV's see the Server and play the movies just fine.
Just wondering if anyone is using TwonkyServer with WHS 2011 and if so, how is it working and how did you install it?
Thanks
Max

I'll see if we can purchase WHS 2011 and update our instructions for this. That might take a few weeks. Hopefully someone will respond before then.

Re: Help : How to Install TwonkyServer with WHS 2011
Thanks Rick - WHS 2011 is available on Technet or at Newegg for about $120.00. WHS 2011 is build on Server 2008 technology and it may be as simple as just running the setup as one does with WHS V1. I will probably try in later this week and will post my results.

Re: Help : How to Install TwonkyServer with WHS 2011 - Answe
I am pleased to Announce that I got Twonky Server working on Windows Home Server 2011. The install was straight forward as was the setup. One I clicked the compatibility mode on my browser, the Web Configuration screen was clean and easy to read. My Samsung TV immediately found the server and displays the thumbnails so all is good

Re: Help : How to Install TwonkyServer with WHS 2011
I have installed TwonkyServer 6.0.34 on WHS 2011. Like others are reporting, it was all entirely straightforward and seems to work perfectly.

Good to hear.
Perhaps someone can tell me why my WHS 2011 install DVD won't run on my Win 7 32-bit or Win 7 64-bit machines.

Re: Help : How to Install TwonkyServer with WHS 2011
I can confirm that my install DVD also won't run on my Win 7 64-bit machine. I do not think it is intended to. It is only supplied as an OEM disc for installation on a dedicated server machine. You have to boot the machine from the install DVD at which it will provide only two options: clean install (which wipes all the content from all hard drives) or repair (which repairs an existing WHS 2011 install). You cannot even upgrade from a WHS v1 install.
I suspect there may be somway to fudge a dual boot install, but it does not seem to be officially supported.

I don't mind wiping my old MSS drives, but my HP MSS has no optical drive. Any suggestions what I should do. Can it access the ISO over the network or a USB optical?

Hi Rick,
Use the instructions on this page:
http://www.intowindows.com/bootable-usb/
to create a bootable USB stick. The instructions refer to Win 7, but WHS 2011 is just the same.
Just remember that you'll need an 8Gig USB stick, it won't fit onto a 4 Gig.
Regards,
Kevin J

Re: Help : How to Install TwonkyServer with WHS 2011
I'm having problems creating the USB stick. Everything works fine until I get to step 6 (shown below) and then I get an error message. Any suggestions?
6. Go back to command prompt and execute the following commands:
D:CD BOOT and hit enter. Where “D†is your DVD drive letter.
CD BOOT and hit enter to see the below message.
BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 H:

Re: Help : How to Install TwonkyServer with WHS 2011
Hi Rick,
i´ve installed my whs2011 via usb-optical drive. guess not that you need to install it via pen-drive.
I can´t remember about to own 2 different dvds for 32/64bit. Whs2011 is only available for 64bit hardware...
Your system-disc will be ereased automaticaly, there is no way to cancle this procedure and you should take care about.
WHS2011 can be also installed underneath Hyper-V, but you´ll facing problems with hibernation/standby mode.
btw. if whs2011 is installed smoothly, the installation of 6.0.34 is pretty easy on it. i´ve notice on errors at first.
BR,
Josh

Probably u should use some blanks
bootsect.exe /nt60 h: if h: points to your pen-drive

Re: Help : How to Install TwonkyServer with WHS 2011
I think I already tried changing the spaces, but I'll try it again. I understand this install will erase my drive and I'm O.K. with that.
I wonder is the problem is my HP MSS hardware. Is it 64-bit ready?

What version of the hardware? The EX47x is 64 bit, and it looks like the EX48x and EX49x are too.TMM_Product_Manager wrote:I think I already tried changing the spaces, but I'll try it again. I understand this install will erase my drive and I'm O.K. with that.

I have one of the first ones they released. I think it's a 470, but I could be wrong. I'm at work so I can't check now.
