Sorting the Files in Directories when searching by directory

Post by mawag » Mon Aug 29, 2011 10:58 pm

Hello,

I have a sorting-problem, especially when i hear classical music.
I don't tag all files. Many are already tagged, but in different quality.
So i normally browse my music-database by directory. But that's the problem.
The files within a directory are always sorted by the tag of the title and not by the filename although browsing not by any tags but by the directorystructure.
So the files within a directory (e.g. a ripped CD) are sorted alphabetically by the title-tag.
It would be much more consistent if the files would be sorted by the name of the files when sorting by directory-structure.
It also would be better to sort by the tag of the track-number. So the files wouldn't get into another order than on the original CD. And re-tagging wouldn't be necessary. At the moment, I have to retag all my titels and set the track-number on the beginning of the title to get the correct order. It'S really boring.
Or is there a possibility to change the default sorting-type?

Thank you

You might want to look at some of Briain's posts. He has created some good navigation trees for classical music.

There might be something useful here as well:
