Installing Twonky on a Linkstation Live Firmware 1.54

Post by ptoddy26 » Fri Sep 02, 2011 3:09 pm

Hi guys

Hope someone can help. I've been trying to install Twonky on my Buffalo Linkstation Live but seem to be struggling. I've managed to get telnet working and i've installed Twonky using the nassetup.exe file in the twonky for Linkstation Live download. After install it says it has started and I can see the twonky folder on my share. But i can't pick it up from my PS3 or laptop. I assume I should see a Twonky media server. Has anyone done this recently on a new linkstation live

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Paul

I know nothing about doing this, but I saw that someone else posted this:

The "admin" account is different from "root". Search for "terastation root access" or similar.

If you want or need to install it manually you need to do this:

- Get system level access to the NAS (ssh or telnet)

- Locate the Twonky installation directory on the NAS (often something like /usr/local/TwonkyVision...).

- Rename the original installation directory (e.g. append something like "_org")

- Create a new folder named as the original installation directory and place the 6.x files there.

- You might need to edit the startup script that launches Twonky (usually located in the folder in /etc/init.d/) and append the "-appdata" switch to the command line. Using the -appdata command line property, you can tell the 6.x servers where to place all runtime generated files. On most NAS devices you need to specify that to prevent Twonky from writing to the ram disc.

Hopefully this will give you some clues.

Use Shonk's modified 1.54 firmware to get root telnet and/or SSH access:

Then just use my guide:
