Hi experts!
with some mp3 files that already have perfect TAGs, the TS 7.08 cannot classify correctly and shows missing artist, genre, etc.. from different folders & contents. finally, the TS put all them together in category called >> [*]...
Does anyone have any idea about what does [*] means?
If TAGS looks fine with several TAG software (Mp3Tag, ID3TagIt, Tag&Rename).. where is the problem?
Help will be appreciated..

Re: TwonkyServer 7.08 TAG issues, WRONG Clasification
The [*] is usually seen in the title of a media item
when twonky has run into issues trying to scan it for tags and media type classification
Being put into a category of [*] is a new one too me
not saying that this wasnt also prior behavior
but when you say category, which one do you mean
when viewing via genre folder album artist etc.?
tyring to determine why this is happening is the next course of action
which is going to involve logging
to see which files are being given the [*]
and hopefully the logs will tell us why

Re: TwonkyServer 7.08 TAG issues, WRONG Clasification
Txs phibertron,
You R all right... When I mean category, I mean "artist/album" or "artist/genre"...
I've found that changing filename for those who has droped into [*] now are going to the correct place...
(at least, after hrs of investigation with TAGS, that's what I found)
Seems to be related to filenames.. not related to TAGs ...
how can I turn ON the logs to see exactly whats wrong ?

Re: TwonkyServer 7.08 TAG issues, WRONG Clasification
On the Settings page go to Advanced and then Logging
Then Enable it
Then Clear the Log gile (if you want a fresh start)
On the same page your there is Server Maintenance
Then choose Rescan Content Folders
The rescan should show any errors in the log file
You can view the log file under Logging
I havent checked this in a while, but...
once a log file reaches 1MB in size it starts a new file
what I cant remeber if when viewing the log,
is does it concatenate them into one view
my memory says this is not the case
as I usually just go to the logging directory
and view them by hand

Just checked, yup it only shows the current log file
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\TwonkyServer\TwonkyServer-log.txt
Once that reaches 1MB it renames it to some date and time that it did it
Like the following
TwonkyServer-2012-07-18-01-40-14-log.txt
TwonkyServer-2012-07-18-03-03-59-log.txt
TwonkyServer-2012-07-18-11-33-26-log.txt
