Hi all,
I am running the Twonky Server on my Windows 8.1 PC. It works fine for some time but after the restart any client or the PC (server) the twonky server can not be found on the client devices. I have to restart the service (TwonkyServer) to make it visible again. What's wrong?

Its either the pc and or nic on the pc is going to sleep
or
its possible that a setting on the router might need to be changed
what make and model router do you have?
In a nuthshell, when twonky server is started it send out a broadcast to the network saying its there
and the above can affect this broadcast
which is why when you restart it, the clients see the broadcast sent out

Re: Twonky Server (Windows 8.1) only found after service res
Thanks for the answer.
Neither the PC nor the network card are in sleep mode.
The router is part of a Horizon Recorder (Cable-TV/-Modem/Router/Phone combination) and no ports or MACs are blocked. UPnP is off and there should not be any settings blocking the broadcast.
But if I get you right, the broadcast is only sent once when the twonky server starts. Right?
So how should a client device that is started after the server know, that there is a server? Don't these clients send a broadcast to request a response from all servers? Shouldn't the twonky server answer this and report that it is running?
Sorry, I am new to this topic...

Re: Twonky Server (Windows 8.1) only found after service res
some routers need upnp turned on for dlna to work right
also igmp proxy or igmp snooping can cause the issue
