Problem serving radio playlists on Buffalo Nas

Post by marksmith » Fri Mar 02, 2018 5:28 pm

Hi folks,

I have a Buffalo Linkstation which runs "TwonkyServer Premium 7.1.1-dsd". Mostly it works fine, but there is a problem serving m3u playlists containing radio URLs: the XML generated by Twonky does not contain the <res> tag, and hence the player cannot play them.

For example, if I give it an m3u containing one line...

http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbc ... adio2_mf_p

...then Twonky gives the following XML:

<DIDL-Lite xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:upnp="urn:schemas-upnp-org:metadata-1-0/upnp/" xmlns:dlna="urn:schemas-dlna-org:metadata-1-0/" xmlns:arib="urn:schemas-arib-or-jp:elements-1-0/" xmlns:dtcp="urn:schemas-dtcp-com:metadata-1-0/" xmlns:pv="http://www.pv.com/pvns/" xmlns="urn:schemas-upnp-org:metadata-1-0/DIDL-Lite/"><item id="0$1$9$55998P77R0" refID="0I0" parentID="0$1$9$55998" restricted="1"><dc:title>http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbc ... /DIDL-Lite>

As you can see, all sorts of stuff there but no <res> tag.

I have also tried with m3us including metadata - for example...

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,CLUB 977 The 80s Channel
http://64.236.34.97:80/stream/1040

...but the result is the same - no <res> tag.

I cannot update the version of Twonky -- you get what Buffalo give you and that's that. Is there anything else I can do to make this work please?

Thanks!
-Mark

In the "downloads" section of this forum, there are links to updated Twonky versions for multiple Buffalo platforms. These appear to be user-submitted solutions not supported by Lynx. I'm planning to review, to see if there's a way to update my linkstation 421 and 221. There's a known security bug in Twonky 7.7.1, but Buffalo does not seem to do anything about it.
