OK, I downloaded TV installed it on my desktop and it ran like a dream. So me thinks, I'll move it to my old server PC which runs all the time.
I uninstall TV from desktop and install on old PC. IT runs, but I'm pointing at the wrong directories... so, after configuration I go for a scan. I have a netgear SC101 with around 400G of music and videos (around 30,000 tracks). So its gonna take a while... I go to be.
Next morning check on progress and its done 136 tracks.... So I read all the forum posts I can, I log things, I check the netgear forum... I've now spent 6 hours. Re-installed it on 3 other machines.... what seems to happen is....
The first time TV run, it scans perfectly. However, if I change the source directories and ask it to rescan, then it goes to 100% cpu and takes an age. My most powerful machine (intel duo with 2 x 3G processors) is currently scanning one track every 40 seconds - log shows that its taking 10 seconds to find a track and 30 seconds between 'adding' and 'added' - at this rate it will finish some time in 2010, so what do i set the rescan period too ;-} obviously not -1
I've deleted the db and started again, ive checked all config....
So anyone got any ideas? Please dont say its a corrupt ID tag or corrupt file or corrupt db as I have tried all of these and it makes no difference. Also, how come it works for the first scan and not then on?
technical bit
Windows XP on all machines
Netgear SC101 (just upgraded the firmware and XP drivers to latest version)
1G network (wired)
A nightmare (XP and Netgear SC101)
So Twonky doesnt support standard NAS
I just read this in the release notes for 4.4.3 beta 2
Known issues:
- on some systems SMS style navigation with Philips clients seems not to work.
this can not be reproduced in our environemt.
- we list up to 25 radio stations per genre. it may be less if duplicate stations occur
- removable and network drives are not supported
- Zyxel DMA-1000 only supports very few Shoutcast radio stations
- PS3 does not support any Shoutcast radio stations
So do I take it that this is implying that since my Netgear SC101 is a NAS - a network drive - it is therefore not supported? Or does this statement only relate to 4.4.3 b2?
BTW I'm trying to run 4.4.2....
