TMS is slow / hangs

Post by fwerre » Wed Oct 14, 2009 9:00 pm

Hello,

after several tries I managed to install TMS successfully on my LS Live.

The problem I have now is that Twonky is really slow and hangs after choosing a media file (at the moment I am streaming music only), which means that you cannot navigate somewhere else in the tree or choosing another media; it takes up to two minutes until the control is coming back.

What may be the problem?

Thanks, fwerre

The database structure used for TMS v5.0.x creates loads of small files in the /var/twonkymedia folder (this was changed in TMS v5.1). On the LS Live and Pro this folder is in the system partition which is quite small so it quickly fills the partition which then slows down the NAS so much that it can be hard to log into.

The trick is to uninstall TMS, delete the /var/twonkymedia folder, create a symlink (search forum for how to do this) from /var/twonkymedia to a folder on your data partition, and then re-install TMS.
