Xbox 360 problem with Twonky

Post by hellaeric10 » Wed Mar 23, 2011 11:50 am

Good morning/afternoon/evening, Twonky users. I'm running Twonky 6.0.32 on Kubuntu. Actually, just set it up last week, which was pretty awesome thanks to the guide. My Xbox is able to see and play all my music and can even read my Windows Media Player playlists. Unfortunately, that's where the problem begins. I find that everytime I play my playlist, after about 2-3 songs, the music stops right in the middle of a song. Any attempt to skip to a new track or control the song through my Xbox causes my Xbox to freeze up until I restart Twonky, upon which frees the Xbox. If I leave it alone, after minutes, the music resumes, skips to the next track, plays 2 seconds, then freezes again. I tried playing the songs that froze, and I have no problem with them. I tried playing my music from a different playlist and I still have that same problem. I've also tried rebuilding the server and all. I'm not sure if it's an issue, but all my music is on my external hard drive which Kubuntu mounts automatically if that could be the problem. Thanks in advance :D

I had a similar problem when I first installed Twonky and I was trying to stream music while it was still busy indexing my collection. It would play the first 10 or 20 seconds of a song and then it would just play silence until the end of the track. And it would work again when skipped to the next track.

Once it had finished indexing all my music, the problem went away.

I had it set to automatically detect new files (rescan = -1). This could be part of the problem too.
